Alleged Paso Robles check forger who shopped at Lowe’s arrested
Paso Robles police took into custody Tuesday a woman suspected to be involved in a string of March check forgeries.
Kathleen Bartley, 56, of Paso Robles turned herself into police on Tuesday morning, according to a Paso Robles Police Department news release. She was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of forgery, burglary and identity theft.
Bartley allegedly used a counterfeit check on March 23 to purchase about $200 worth of items at a Paso Robles Lowe’s home improvement store.
She’s also believed to have passed three other counterfeit checks on March 29 and March 30 at a Target store, where she allegedly purchased more than $600 in goods.
All transactions were captured on the stores’ surveillance cameras.
Bartley was being held in jail on $40,000 bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
