Woman allegedly passed counterfeit checks in Paso Robles
The Paso Robles Police Department is appealing to the public for help in identifying a woman who allegedly passed bogus checks totaling nearly $1,000 in local businesses last month.
On March 23, the woman entered a Lowe’s home improvement store in Paso Robles and presented a check she used to purchase about $200 worth of goods, police Lt. Tim Murphy said.
Investigators believe the same person passed three other counterfeit checks at the Target store on March 29 and 30 for items totaling more than $600. Each transaction was captured on the business’ surveillance video. Police describe the culprit as a woman between 45 and 55 years old.
