3 men arrested in armed robbery of Atascadero 7-Eleven

Three suspects have been arrested in the armed robbery of an Atascadero 7-Eleven store, Atascadero police have announced.

Timothy Crook, 18, Jaligh Patterson, 20, and James Michael Ray Cagnina III, 19, have all been arrested in connection with the June 20 robbery. According to police, two of the men entered the store with their faces covered around 3 a.m., one of them armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The suspects, captured on video surveillance, forced the clerk to give them cash and cigarettes.

Assisted by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, Atascadero police identified Crook as a primary suspect and detained him in the 6700 block of El Camino Real. At the time, police said, Crook had a previously stolen weapon in his possession.

After interviews with Patterson, he, too, was arrested, and both men were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Crook was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.

Monday evening, Atascadero detectives received a phone call from a relative of Cagnina, who said the suspect was outside the County Jail, waiting to turn himself in. After speaking with detectives, he was booked on suspicion of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
