Two men robbed a 7-Eleven store in Atascadero at gunpoint on June 20.

Two men robbed a 7-Eleven store in Atascadero at gunpoint early Thursday morning.

Just before 3 a.m., the robbery alarm system in the store at 8000 El Camino Real activated and police responded. They learned that two male suspects had entered the business, one of them armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

At gunpoint, they forced the clerk to give them an undetermined amount of cash from the register. They also took packages of cigarettes.

The men then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. A search by police failed to locate them.

One of the men was wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and white and black shoes. His face was covered by a dark-colored garment, and he was armed with black and silver handgun.

The other man was wearing a yellowish-brown Rams ball cap with a blue brim. He was also wearing a black zip-up jacket, dark long pants and black and white shoes. His face was covered with what appeared to be a white plastic bag with holes cut in it.

Surveillance cameras recorded video of the suspects entering and exiting the store. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Atascadero police at 461-5051.
