Man convicted of sexually assaulting 2 children in SLO County
A man who was convicted Thursday of molesting two children in San Luis Obispo County faces multiple life sentences.
In 2024, Teodulo Vasquez Jimenez, 41, was charged with 16 felony counts involving the sexual abuse of two children in Paso Robles between 2009 and 2023 — 15 counts of lewd acts upon a child and one count of sex with a child of 10 years or younger, according to court records.
The children were aged 14 years old or younger during the period of abuse. The victims’ identities are protected and their relationship to Vasquez Jimenez is unknown.
The District Attorney’s office announced in a news release Thursday that after a week-long trial, Vasquez Jimenez was found guilty on 15 felony counts of committing lewd acts upon a child 14 years old or younger.
Both victims testified in the trial and described the repeated sexual abuse they endured over several years, the release said.
“This verdict reflects the courage of the victims who came forward and the careful, thoughtful work of our criminal and victim justice system,” District Attorney Dan Dow said in the release. “We are deeply grateful to the jury for their time, attention, and commitment to evaluating difficult and disturbing evidence. Their service ensured accountability and helps bring a measure of justice to the victims in this case.”
The jury found that Vasquez Jimenez committed these offenses against multiple “particularly vulnerable” young victims and “abused a position of trust and confidence to commit the offenses,” the release said.
Vasquez Jimenez faces a maximum sentence of 280 years in state prison — multiple life sentences, the release said.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m. by Judge Rita Federman in Department 1 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.
“The District Attorney’s Office encourages anyone who has been the victim of sexual abuse to seek help and know that they are not alone,” the release said. “Confidential support and advocacy services are available through the District Attorney’s Victim Witness Assistance Center and other community partners. Victims are also encouraged to report abuse to local law enforcement so that it can be investigated and prevented from continuing. Reporting can help protect others and connect victims with the support and resources they deserve.”
