Man broke into historic SLO home — and then fell through ceiling, police say
One man was arrested after allegedly smashing a window and breaking into the historic Jack House in downtown San Luis Obispo on Thursday — and later falling through the second-floor ceiling, right in front of police.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department received a report that the security alarm system at the Jack House was activated, and sensors were detecting motion on the second story of the building around 2 p.m., according to a news release.
When police arrived on scene, they found a window that had been shattered using a large rock, the release said.
As officers began to explore house, a man fell part of the way through the floor of the attic into the second floor ceiling, the release said.
The man, identified as Blake Robertson, a 35-year-old homeless resident of SLO, was directed to exit the attic after the fall, police said.
Robertson was placed under arrest and transported to a hospital for injuries stemming from the broken window and the fall, police said.
He was subsequently booked into the SLO County Jail on suspicion of felony commercial burglary.
