TikToker arrested after follower reports him for DUI during SLO County livestream
A TikToker was arrested in San Luis Obispo County on suspicion of DUI on Friday after a follower called from across the country to report him while watching his social media livestream.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Angela Molinar, a person called to report a drunk driver in SLO County on Friday afternoon — but the caller was from Kentucky, and was reporting the social media personality for allegedly drinking and driving while livestreaming.
The driver was originally reported to have possibly been drinking in the parking lot at Planet Fitness in San Luis Obispo, but Molinar told The Tribune it was more likely to have been the Arroyo Grande location of the gym.
Molinar said CHP didn’t have a lot of information to go off of from the original call, but dispatchers eventually started watching the TikTok livestream themselves and observed the suspect in Pismo Beach and Shell Beach.
Officers eventually located the suspect in his vehicle on Shell Beach Drive, and the man was subsequently apprehended and arrested on suspicion of DUI around 3:12 p.m., Molinar said.
Molinar said the TikToker’s handle was @jamiep504. The CHP did not disclose his full name as of Friday afternoon.
His account, which most often shares food reviews, was at more than 11,000 followers as of Friday. He also had a recent post tagged with a SLO location.
