Masked burglar caught on video breaking into SLO County shop
An early-morning burglary was reported at a downtown Templeton business on Thursday after deputies responded to an alarm call and found signs of forced entry, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 3:15 a.m. on April 30 to an audible alarm at Upscale Resale, 590 S. Main St., where they found signs of the burglary, sheriff’s officials said.
The business owner arrived a short time later and provided surveillance video showing a suspect inside the store. The individual was wearing a black baseball hat, gray hooded zip-up sweatshirt, black jeans, gloves and a black ski mask.
In the video, the suspect was seen rummaging through the store, taking clothing from racks, opening drawers and removing purses from displays before leaving the area in what appeared to be a newer white Chevrolet or GMC truck, authorities said.
“We’re no longer going to carry the very high-end designer bags because of this unfortunate occurrence we experienced,” said owner Tamara Stavrianoudakis. “It’s the first time in nearly 20 years we’ve had a break-in.” The owner is asking neighboring business and others to contact her with any video footage that may be connected to the incident.
An estimate of the loss was not immediately available.
