Police swarmed a neighborhood in Arroyo Grande. Here’s why

Law enforcement officers descended on an Arroyo Grande neighborhood on Wednesday morning — and arrested a man for alleged drug possession.

A felony investigation being conducted by the San Luis Obispo Police Department led officers to a house on Spruce Street, the agency said.

The San Luis Obispo County Regional SWAT Team served a search warrant there on Wednesday morning, police said.

At the scene, officers detained Christopher Folks on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and felony probation violation, police said.

“There is currently no threat to the community, and this is an ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement. “Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.”

Some community members mistook the SWAT Team for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers because they were wearing green uniforms, Arroyo Grande Police Department Sgt. Jason Castillo told The Tribune.

But there were no ICE or other federal agents involved in the investigation on Wednesday, he said.
