Santa Maria man arrested after report of gunshots heard in SLO

A Santa Maria man was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail early Sunday after deputies received a report of gunshots heard in the unincorporated part of San Luis Obispo.

After midnight on Sunday, Sept. 28, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gun shots heard in the 400 block area of Indian Knob Road, according to a news release.

The deputies located a vehicle that matched the report’s description, the release said.

According to the release, Miguel Andy Martinez, 24, was the driver of the reported vehicle, and after failing to comply with the commands of the deputies, he was arrested.

Upon further inspection, deputies found a firearm and spent shell casing inside Martinez’s vehicle, according to the release.

Martinez was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail at around 3 a.m. on suspicion of charges of resisting a peace officer, carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.

The case remains under investigation, and no one was injured during the incident, the release said.

Martinez has a bail of $20,000 as of Sunday, according to the Sheriff’s Office’s Who’s in Custody website.
