Woman stole TV from SLO apartment complex mailroom, police say
A woman with a history of run-ins with the law ran into police again last week when they say she swiped a TV from the mailroom of a San Luis Obispo apartment complex.
On Wednesday, the Police Department received a report of a TV theft from a complex on Foothill Boulevard, the department posted on Facebook.
Surveillance footage showed a woman taking the TV several days prior, the post said. She was later identified as Carrie Jo Wallace, who had had prior interactions with SLO police.
Wallace was previously charged with three misdemeanors in SLO County, one for possession of a controlled substance and two for possession of paraphernalia, according to court records.
All charges were filed in 2024, and Wallace avoided trial by entering a pre-plea drug program that allows defendants of non-violent crimes with a clean record to attend drug treatment classes to avoid a conviction.
On Thursday, police searched Wallace’s apartment in SLO with a warrant, the post said. There, they located the TV, along with suspected methamphetamine and a glass bong.
The TV was returned to its original owner, the post said.
SLO police have requested to file charges of burglary, petty theft with prior convictions for theft and possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions of possession of a controlled substance against Wallace.
