A Paso Robles man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Tuesday morning after a person was treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound.

The Paso Robles Police Department was notified of a patient being treated for a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg shortly before 2 a.m. Monday morning, the agency said in a news release.

The shooting occurred around midnight in the 700 block of 34th Street, police said. At the scene, officers found a single 9-millimeter casing and eventually identified 27-year-old Noe Tapia-Sandoval as the suspect.

Detectives believe the shooting “was a result of a dispute and was a targeted act,” police said, adding there was no evidence of an ongoing public safety threat.

Tapia-Sandoval was arrested on Tuesday in the “early morning hours” as police and the San Luis Obispo County Regional SWAT Team executed search warrants at two locations.

In the 700 block of 30th Street, where Tapia-Sandoval was found, officers recovered an unregistered AR-15-style rifle, police said. Despite executing a second search warrant at the 500 block of Arleen Street, the handgun used in the shooting was not found.

Tapia-Sandoval was expected to be booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail custody with bail set $100,000 on a suspected attempted murder charge, the release said.

Police ask anyone with additional information to call the department at 805-237-6464 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP (7867) or text “’SLOTIPS’ plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
