A pursuit through Grover Beach ended in an arrest of a wanted felon on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Grover Beach Police Department, at around 4:23 p.m., a Grover Beach Police officer on patrol located a vehicle that was reported stolen near Grand Avenue and 13th Street.

When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver sped away, kicking off a short pursuit in the northern part of Grover Beach that ended near the intersection of Newport Avenue and 14th Street, according to the release.

The driver fled from the stolen vehicle into the nearby yards, pursued by officers from the Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande police departments, according to the release.

He was eventually spotted by an Arroyo Grande officer in front of the Burger King on the corner of Oak Park Boulevard and Grand Avenue and taken into custody without incident, according to the release.

A search of the area turned up a loaded gun with a 30-round magazine that was dropped by the driver during the foot pursuit, according to the release.

San Luis Obispo resident Jacob Levi Arvik, 31, was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges including auto theft, firearm offenses, possession of stolen property and burglary tools, and had two previous felony warrants for fraud and theft on record, according to the release.

Arvik was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on a $100,000 bond, and was still in jail custody as of Wednesday morning, according to the county jail’s booking log.

“The Grover Beach Police Department would like to thank the many community members that assisted our officers during this investigation,” the release read. “Also, a huge thank you to our neighbors at Arroyo Grande PD for your quick assistance.”
