SLO County man arrested for alleged possession and distribution of child porn

A Los Osos man was arrested for alleged felony possession and distribution of child pornography on Wednesday.

According to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, a complex investigation involving three separate cybertips and over 600 reported files of child sexual abuse material culminated in the arrest of 28-year-old Los Osos resident David Augustine Hurley on Wednesday morning.

Detectives arrested Hurley at his place of employment in Los Osos, then served a search warrant a Hurley’s residence in the 1000 block of Pismo Avenue, according to the release.

Hurley’s electronic devices were seized as evidence, and Hurley was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of child sexual abuse material, felony possession of child sexual abuse material in excess of 600 images and distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to the release.

An investigation is ongoing, and detectives do not have reason to believe there are local victims involved, according to the release.
