The Paso Robles Police Department is urging parents to speak to their children about “appropriate use of gaming chats/social media” after Paso Robles High School was alerted to an online threat on Monday.

The threat was found to be not credible and all students and staff are safe, the Police Department said in a news release.

At around 11 a.m., the high school’s school resource officer was alerted to an “online comment that raised concerns about the safety of campus,” police said.

The agency asked parents to use the incident as an opportunity to talk to their children about their behavior online and “remind them that their actions and words have consequences.”

The agency asks anyone wishing to report information and remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers’ 24-hour hotline at 805-549-STOP (7867) or by texting “’SLOTIPS’ plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
