SLO man arrested after police seize cache of child porn at his house
A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possessing and transmitting child pornography.
According to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, Ivan Cobarrubias, 28, was arrested Thursday at his home in the 1200 block of Murray Street following a complex investigation.
The investigation — part of the San Luis Obispo Police Department’s work with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force — used cybertips on the uploading of child pornography from electronic service providers such as Facebook, Google and Reddit, according to the release.
A search of Cobarrubias’ residence and vehicle revealed more than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material, according to the release.
Cobrarrubias was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the charges of alleged felony possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material, felony possession of matter depicting a minor engaging with sexual conduct with more than 600 images portraying sexual sadism and masochism, and felony possession of matter depicting a minor engaging of sexual content, according to the release.
An investigation is ongoing, though detectives do not have reason to believe there are local victims, according to the release.
