Pismo Beach man arrested on suspicion of meeting 15-year-old for sex

A Pismo Beach man was arrested after detectives interrupted what he thought was going to be a meeting with a minor for sex Tuesday, police said.

Grover Beach Police Department detectives arrested 59-year-old Mark David Pinson on suspicion of misdemeanor arranging a meeting with a minor for a lewd purpose and felony meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, the agency said in a news release.

Pinson was arrested in a Grover Beach parking lot where he intended to meet a 15-year-old, police said. Detectives made the arrest amid an investigation related to intercepting child predators, police said.

“This case is a reminder that child predators exist in our area,” the agency said in the release. “The Grover Beach Police Department encourages parents to talk with their children about the dangers of connecting with strangers online.”

Pinson was in San Luis Obispo County Jail custody with bail set at $25,000 as of Tuesday evening, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office database.
