3 caught in sting operation trying to meet up with minors, SLO County Sheriff’s Office says

Three men were arrested in a sting operation in San Luis Obispo County, after they allegedly arranged to meet an undercover detective posing as a minor under 15 years old.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, Salvador Mendoza Pille, of Oceano, and Genaro Santana Avalos and Ernesto Fernandez, of Santa Maria, were arrested Thursday on suspicion of arranging to meet with a minor for lewd purposes.

The arrests were made as part of an operation aimed at intercepting child predators in the city of San Luis Obispo, a Sheriff’s Office news release stated.

The operation was led by the SLO County Counter Human Trafficking Task Force, including investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office, according to the release.

The Santa Maria Police Department, San Luis Obispo Police Department and the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department also assisted in the operation.
