Two people were arrested in downtown San Luis Obispo on Wednesday on suspicion of firearms violations and possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl, SLO police say.

According to a news release from the SLO Police Department, an officer stopped a vehicle with no front license plate in the Marsh Street parking garage.

Occupying the car, police say, were Felipe De Jesus Ortiza and Maritza Hernandez, both of Santa Maria.

Police found a Santa Barbara County warrant out for Ortiza’s arrest and a San Luis Obispo County warrant out for Hernandez’s arrest.

Officers found 121 grams of meth and fentanyl in the car, along with one unloaded revolver, one loaded semi-automatic handgun, a portion of another handgun and ammunition.

Ortiza was arrested on suspicion of nine felony charges, including possession of drugs while armed and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Hernandez was also arrested on suspicion of at least two felonies and several misdemeanor charges, including probation violations and possession of a controlled substance.

Both individuals were booked into the SLO County Jail, police said.

The incident is currently under investigation.
