Firefighters rescued two puppies from a residential fire in Grover Beach on Thursday, according to a Five Cities Fire Authority news release.

The Five Cities Fire Authority responded to a fire in the 900 block of Mentone Avenue just before 10:30 p.m., the agency said in the release.

Crews contained the fire from the outside of the home before entering the residence to fully extinguish the flames.

Once inside, firefighters found two puppies in the structure and reunited them with their owners, the agency said.

The home’s occupants were assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.
