Man charged with raping 13-year-old girl during SLO home invasion enters plea
The man charged with raping a 13-year-old during an early morning home invasion in San Luis Obispo pleaded not guilty to the crime Friday.
Sosimo Gonzalez De Jesus, 29, broke into a San Luis Obispo home through a window in the early hours of Sept. 20, took the girl from her bed and sexually assaulted her in the bathroom, the San Luis Obispo Police Department said in Wednesday news release. He then left the property.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office charged Gonzalez De Jesus with aggravated sexual assault, in this case rape, of a minor under 14, assault with the intent to commit rape during a burglary, and sending harmful material to a minor with the intent of sexual arousal — all felonies. Additional charges could be added as more evidence is revealed, Deputy District Attorney Kimberly Dittrich told The Tribune.
Gonzalez De Jesus was arrested Oct. 4 after detectives posed as the victim on a “smartphone communications application,” police said.
According to police, he knew the victim.
San Luis Obispo Superior Court Judge Barry LaBarbera set Gonzalez De Jesus’s bail at $1.12 million. As of Friday, Gonzalez De Jesus remained in custody at San Luis Obispo County Jail.
LaBarbera also issued a protective order, preventing Gonzalez De Jesus from contacting the victim or the victim’s family.
His next hearing was scheduled for Oct. 16.
