Editor’s note: This story mentions child sexual assault.
A San Luis Obispo County man was arrested Friday on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old in an early-morning home invasion, San Luis Obispo Police Department said.
According to the agency, 29-year-old Sosimo Gonzalez De Jesus broke into a San Luis Obispo home through a window in the early hours of Sept. 20, took her from her bed and sexually assaulted her in the bathroom, police said. He then left the property.
Police said Gonzalez De Jesus knew the victim.
San Luis Obispo Police Department detectives took an initial report and found Gonzalez De Jesus several days later by posing as the victim on a “smartphone communications application.”
He was taken into custody Friday at El Chorro Regional Park, police said.
He was subsequently taken into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of burglary with the intent to commit sexual assault, rape of a minor under 14, kidnapping, lewd acts with a child, three counts of sending explicit imagery to a minor and committing a felony during the commission of first-degree burglary — all felonies.
He is being held with no bail, police said, and will not be eligible for release from jail until his trial concludes.
As of Tuesday evening, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office had not filed charges.
