Man arrested in Grover Beach for carrying loaded ‘ghost gun,’ police say
The Grover Beach Police Department arrested a man after they discovered a loaded “ghost gun” in his waistband on Sunday night, police announced via Facebook.
Police stopped a vehicle on Grand Avenue for a speed violation, then discovered that the passenger, Santa Maria resident Benjamin Ybarra, was on probation, the post said.
Police searched Ybarra and found the loaded gun.
It’s is considered a “ghost gun” because it didn’t have a serial number.
“Ghost guns are illegal, privately assembled, and untraceable,” police wrote in the Facebook post. “They are commonly used to commit crimes and are being recovered by law enforcement at an increasing rate.”
Police booked Ybarra, 20, into San Luis Obispo County Jail on Sunday night.
