Atascadero cigarette store robbed on Halloween night, police say

Atascadero police are asking the public for information regarding a robbery that took place in the city on Halloween night.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to Discount Cigarette at 8457 El Camino Real around 7:11 p.m. on Sunday for reports of a robbery that had just taken place.

Witnesses told police two adult males entered the business, approached the checkout area and demanded cash.

One of the men was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a face covering. The other was also wearing a hooded sweatshirt and face covering.

Neither brandished a weapon, according to the release, but a threat of assault was made to the clerk if he did not cooperate.

Police say the two men fled the business in a sedan.

The Atascadero Police Department is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 805-461-5051.
