NBC’s ‘Dateline’ to broadcast Kristin Smart episode Friday night. Here’s when to tune in

An episode of an NBC news magazine program highlighting the details around the disappearance of Cal Poly freshman Kristin Smart in 1996 will be broadcast Friday.

The two-hour “Dateline” starts at 9 p.m. PDT and also will include coverage of the Alex Murdaugh case in South Carolina.

A preview posted on Dateline NBC’s Facebook page shows clips of interviews with San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson, Smart’s brother Matt, and “Your Own Backyard” podcaster Chris Lambert.

The show will air footage of Smart as a teenager, images of the Cal Poly university campus and San Luis Obispo, according to preview clips.

Smart went missing on May 25, 1996 after attending an off-campus party at Cal Poly

She was last seen with Paul Flores, who has been charged with murder. Flores and his father, Ruben, charged with being an accessory, face trial in April.
