Paso Robles man arrested after vehicle search finds meth, heroin and loaded gun, police say

Paso Robles Police officers arrested a man for 12 felony counts Wednesday during a vehicle stop, according to a Paso Robles Police Department Facebook post.

Daniel Higgins, 35, was found in possession of drugs and weapons while on parole, according the post.

Higgins was arrested a few years ago for assault with a deadly weapon that hospitalized a man, according to Paso Robles police.

Higgins was on parole at the time of the vehicle stop, so officers searched his vehicle.

In doing so, they found methamphetamine, heroin, scales, cash and brass knuckles, according to police. An unserialized, loaded Polymer 80 pistol was also found during the search, according to police.

Higgins was arrested on 12 felony counts and two misdemeanor charges related to drugs and weapons, according to the San Luis Obispo County Jail booking log.

His parole was put on hold, according to police.

Higgins was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on Wednesday afternoon, but he is no longer in custody, according to booking logs.

Higgins is set to appear in court on Oct. 8.
