3 arrested after Santa Maria search warrant allegedly turns up drugs, stolen guns

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people in Santa Maria on Tuesday after a search warrant allegedly turned up drugs, stolen guns and illegally obtained vehicles.

Sheriff’s Office detectives served the search warrant in the 2200 block of Professional Parkway around 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to an agency news release.

Santa Maria residents Donald Anderson, 37, and Kimberly Machleit, 35, were arrested along with Kevin Rasmuussen, 27, of Tustin, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives seized 605 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of heroin, sales-related packaging material and indications of narcotics sales, according to the release.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, firearms and ammunition including a stolen Smith & Wesson M&P15 rifle, a 30-round rifle magazine, a stolen Sig Sauer P365 handgun and a J. Stevens Arms sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun were seized. Detectives also seized two non-serialized 9mm handguns, referred to as “ghost guns,” the release said.

Sheriff’s Office investigators also found $2,000 in cash and five fraudulently acquired vehicles during the search warrant, the release said.

The five vehicles — three trucks, a Dodge Charger and a BMW car — were purchased fraudulently using various names, birthdates and social security numbers, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Anderson, Machleit and Rasmussen were booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance for sales and being felons in possession of firearms.

All three were released without bail due to COVID-19 emergency precautions, according to the release.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
