SLO woman suspected of killing husband in apartment complex shooting, police say

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has arrested a woman who is suspected of shooting her husband to death Thursday night at their apartment complex.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department was called around 9:10 p.m. to the Peachwood Complex on the 600 block of Chorro Street for reports of a gunshot and a woman screaming, according to a Friday news release. Shortly after officers and fire personnel arrived on scene, they located a man with a gunshot wound.

The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, according to the release. Police identified the man as 35-year-old Alexander Hagist, of San Luis Obispo.

The watch commander said officers worked through the night and the investigation evolved quickly.

After follow-up interviews were conducted, investigators determined the Hagist’s wife, Skylar Marie Marshall, 23, was responsible for his death, according to the release. Marshall was arrested on suspicion of murder and involuntary manslaughter, and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail around 3 a.m. Friday.

She is being held without bail.

According to Marshall’s Facebook profile, she is from Paso Robles. Hagist was from Bakersfield and had several children before meeting Marshall, according to his Facebook profile.

The two were married for about a year, according to their profiles.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact San Luis Obispo Investigator Evan Stradley at 805-594-8068. Reference SLOPD case #200716080.le.
