SLO woman allegedly killed husband in apartment complex shooting, police say

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has made an arrest in a deadly shooting at an apartment complex Thursday night.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department was called out to the 600 block of Chorro Street around 9:10 p.m. for reports of a gunshot and a woman screaming, according to a news release. Shortly after officers and fire personnel arrived on scene, they located a man with a single gunshot wound.

The man succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced deceased, according to the release.

After follow-up interviews were conducted, it was determined the man’s wife, Skylar Marie Marshall, 23, was responsible for his death, according to the release. Police identified the man as 35-year-old Alexander Hagist, of San Luis Obispo.

Marshall was arrested on charges of murder and involuntary manslaughter, and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail. She is being held without bail.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is currently no threat to public safety, according to the release.

San Luis Obispo Police officers are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Thursday night at the Peachwood Complex.

According to officers, one person is currently in custody. Jail logs show 23-year-old Skylar Marie Marshall was booked into County Jail at 2:51 p.m. on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.

Officers confirmed that a single gunshot was fired in the apartment complex in the 600 block of Chorro Street. San Luis Obispo Police said the person who was shot has died.

The name of the victim and the suspect have not yet been officially released, however, San Luis Obispo Police say they will release the names shortly.

The watch commander said officers worked through the night and the investigation has evolved quickly.
