Drunk man harassed Morro Bay gas station clerk, then attacked her and co-worker, police say

An apparently drunk man was arrested on suspicion of assault after allegedly harassing a Morro Bay gas station clerk and getting into an altercation with other employees.

At about 12:14 p.m. July 12, officers were called to the Mobil gas station at 911 Morro Bay Boulevard for a report of an assault, the Morro Bay Police Department said in a news release Tuesday

Andrew Bergfalk, 21, of San Diego, entered the store intoxicated and “confronted the store clerk about her relationship status,” police said.

Bergfalk walked around the cashier counter and allegedly grabbed the victim’s phone from her waistband.

A verbal altercation began when another store employee attempted to intervene, and Bergfalk assaulted the male employee and later struck both employees, the news release said.

Both employees and Bergfalk sustained injuries from the physical altercation, the release said.

Police arrested Bergfalk and booked him into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of grand theft, battery, and disorderly conduct.
