Grover Beach police searching for suspects who broke into, damaged school classroom

Grover Beach police officers are investigating a break-in at Grover Beach Elementary School that led to more than $1,700 worth of damage.

Two people broke into a classroom and caused significant damage Thursday night, the Grover Beach Police Department said in a Facebook post.

The two people, who appear to be female, were caught on surveillance cameras, the police said. Grover Beach police are asking the public to help identify the individuals.

The break-in occurred the same week racist and sexual graffiti markings were sprayed onto the upper wall of the school.

Police are still seeking information on who tagged the school after interviewing people of interest and determining they were not involved in the incident, according to a Grover Beach Police Department Facebook post.

The elementary school campus has been closed to students since March 16 due to COVID-19 and the school district is in the process of planning how in-person classes may resume when it is safe to do so.

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call 805-473-4511 or email Sgt. Nelida Aceves at naceves@gbpd.org.
