Arroyo Grande police arrest stabbing suspect more than 5 months after alleged attack

Arroyo Grande police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of assaulting someone with a deadly weapon in January.

Police officers responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. Jan. 20 to reports of a stabbing at a house in the 400 block of South Elm Street in Arroyo Grande, according to a news release.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in the torso and sustained life-threatening injuries, the release said. The person was treated on the scene, transported to the hospital and survived the assault, according to police.

According to police, the suspect fled the scene before they arrived.

Detectives have been investigating the case since January and they identified Michael Angel Galindo, 43, as the suspect, the release said.

Galindo was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury and a parole violation.

He was being held at San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
