Update: Family hosts vigil for murdered Paso Robles man after arrest of suspected killer
Update, 12:15 p.m.:
A community vigil for Trevon Perry will be held in Paso Robles on Monday evening following the finding of human remains believed to be Perry’s and the arrest of a man suspected of murdering Perry.
The Facebook event page says the community is invited to honor Perry, a “beloved son, brother, father, and friend.”
The family wrote that they want the community’s support in healing from their loss.
“We struggled to persevere within a community who did not fully join us in demanding that his disappearance be prioritized and widely publicized,” the event page reads. “Help us mourn his loss and begin the long journey of grief and healing. Help us show that we are capable of building and sustaining a beloved community on the Central Coast.”
Community members are asked to wear masks and bring candles, flowers and photos of Perry.
The vigil will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at the gazebo in Downtown City Park in Paso Robles.
Original story:
Police have identified a suspect in the investigation of the murder of Trevon Perry, a Paso Robles man who went missing in mid-March.
On Sunday, the Paso Robles Police Department arrested 23-year-old Nicholas Ron on suspicion of murder, according to a police news release.
Ron, a Paso Robles resident, is believed to have been an acquaintance of Perry.
Perry was last seen March 15 in the area of Poppy Lane, according to a Paso Robles Police Department Facebook post.
According to police, Perry was last seen by his family leaving his residence with friends on March 15. Those friends told police they last saw Perry leave another friend’s home on foot after attending a small get-together, according to a news release.
In May, Paso Robles police said they believed foul play was potentially involved in Perry’s disappearance.
Prior to his disappearance, Perry testified in a preliminary hearing for a San Luis Obispo County murder trial.
Perry testified for the prosecution against Kejuan Bynum, 26, of Atascadero, who’s accused of fatally stabbing 23-year-old Cristopher Vento Wilson in Shandon in June 2019.
However, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office has not linked his murder to Bynum’s trial.
On June 18, human remains that are believed to be Perry’s were found in Riverside, according to police.
Police and the District Attorney’s Office followed several leads and conducted dozens of search warrants throughout California. Following months of investigation, detectives identified Ron as a suspect, according to a news release.
According to police, Ron was located Sunday evening and arrested by officers at his job in the 1300 block of Spring Street in Paso Robles.
He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, and remained in custody Monday.
This investigation is ongoing, and anybody with information is asked to call Detective Bryce Lickness at 805-227-7450.
