Atascadero police searching for armed man who robbed Subway

Atascadero police are searching for a suspect who held up a Subway sandwich restaurant on El Camino Real on Thursday.

According to a news release, police responded to a robbery report around 7:30 p.m.

An employee told police the suspect entered the business, lifted his shirt to reveal a firearm in the waistband of his jeans, demanded cash and then left with an undisclosed sum, the release said.

Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had fled the scene in a newer model white Toyota sedan with tinted windows, according to the release.

He was described an a white male adult wearing a mask, a brown-and-yellow flannel shirt and blue jeans, police said.

The Atascadero Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
