Burglars steal safe from SLO County nursery, sheriff says

Safe-stealing burglars have struck Cambria businesses twice in a little more than a month.

According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla, deputies responded to a burglary call at approximately 8 a.m. May 18 at Cambria Nursery and Florist at 2801 Eton Road.

Cipolla said via email that “the owner discovered a safe missing from the office,” adding that the “approximate loss is $4,500.”

According to the investigation and surveillance video, he said, “It appears the suspects entered in through a window in the office.”

The video “shows what appears to be two subjects, possibly one male and one female, committing the burglary,” Cipolla said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate both crimes.

On April 13, burglars took a small safe containing cash and miscellaneous items from the Sow’s Ear Restaurant at 2448 Main St. in Cambria’s historic East Village business district.

Detectives ask anyone who has information that could lead to the apprehension and conviction of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen items contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 805-781-4500. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 805-549-7867.
