Car strikes, injures pedestrian in Arroyo Grande. Now police are looking for the driver

Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck a man in downtown Arroyo Grande early Wednesday morning before fleeing the scene of the crash.

The collision took place about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the intersection of East Grand Avenue and El Camino Real, according to a news release from the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

The car was last seen traveling eastbound on East Grand Avenue, the release said.

The victim, a pedestrian, was hospitalized with major injuries, a police spokesperson said.

According to police, the suspect is described as a white woman with blond hair in her mid-20s or 30s who was driving a newer model, white sedan.

The car will likely have driver’s side front end damage from the collision, police said.
