Man caught on Facebook dumping trash in Grover Beach. So police made him clean it up

Social media helped the Grover Beach Police Department find and speak with a man suspected of illegally dumping trash along the road Saturday, authorities said.

According to police, they saw a Facebook post on the 805Life page about an incident of illegal dumping near the border of Pismo Beach within Grover Beach city limits.

Through the post, the police said they were able to locate the person responsible and spoke with him.

The man went back to the site, with police escorting him, and voluntarily picked up the trash he had dumped, according a Grover Beach Police Facebook post.

Police said they stayed on site to ensure safety until he was done cleaning up.

The department thanked their “social media friends for helping to keep our community clean” and reminded the community that this Earth Day and Arbor Day are this week on April 22 and 24, respectively.
