Paso Robles police search for armed man who robbed frozen yogurt shop

The Paso Robles Police Department is looking for a man who robbed a frozen yogurt shop.

According to a police news release, an armed robber hit the Yogurt Creations restaurant on Nibick Road in the Paso Robles Woodland Plaza II at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

The man showed the cashier a handgun and demanded all of the money in the till from the cashier, who was the only employee there at the time, police said, and the cashier complied..

The robber also took the employees cellphone, according to police.

The employee told police he then locked himself in the restroom and called 911 when the coast was clear.

The robber was last seen headed south, police said.

When police responded, they called the Atascadero Police Department and requested help from their K-9 unit, the release said.

The police K-9 unit began tracking the robber from the store and headed south, according to the release.

Police said officers also able to track the stolen cell phone to River Road and Riverbank Lane where it was left in the street.

Police were unable to locate the suspect, the release said.

However, evidence is currently being processed for DNA, according to police.

The robber is described to be a white male adult who stands about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, colored Vans shoes with white trim and a black mask, according to the release.

The Yogurt Creations employee also said he was carrying a black backpack, according to police.
