Paso police nab man who smeared poop on himself to ward off officers. ‘A very messy arrest’
Some officers with the Paso Robles Police Department had a very messy day at the office Friday.
According to a release, police pulled over 23-year-old Anthony Espinoza while riding a bicycle in the 900 block of Spring Street in Paso Robles on Friday. Espinoza had allegedly been riding down the wrong side of the road.
When officers attempted to conduct a probation search, Espinoza fled the police, eventually making it to the 1400 block of Riverside Avenue, according to the release.
Once there, police say he defecated himself, removed the feces from his pants with his bare hands and then “mushed the poop onto himself in an attempt to ward off the officers.”
Espinoza was then arrested, and methamphetamine was found in his backpack, according to the release. He was transported to SLO County Jail on charges of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, trespassing on railroad property and obstructing or resisting an officer.
His bail was set at $5,000.
The Paso Robles Police Department called it “a very messy arrest” in a Facebook post about the incident Friday evening.
