Morro Bay man arrested in stabbing that killed 1 person, police say
A man was arrested on suspicion of homicide in connection to a stabbing in Morro Bay, according to a Morro Bay Police Department news release.
Morro Bay police responded to a reported stabbing at 3:49 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of Allesandro Street, and officers arrived a few minutes later.
According to Morro Bay Police Chief Jody Cox, there were several individuals on the scene when officers arrived, and two males were involved in a physical altercation.
Andrew McTaggart, 58, was stabbed in the upper left chest area, according to the release. He was given aid on scene and taken by ambulance to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where he later died of his injuries.
Sean Maneely, 53, was found on site and arrested, police said. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on one count of homicide, according the release.
Cox said the individuals knew each other and both lived in Morro Bay. The other individuals at the scene were not involved in the altercation and were not witnesses.
The Morro Bay Fire Department and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office assisted police with the incident.
Maneely was being held Sunday afternoon at San Luis Obispo County Jail, but no bail amount was listed in jail records.
