SWAT team dispatched for barricaded suspect in Santa Maria

A barricaded suspect led to a large police presence and road closures in northwest Santa Maria on Saturday.

The incident began at approximately 1:30 a.m., and was focused on a residence on the 500 block of West Donovan Road, according to Santa Maria police Sgt. Danny Rios.

Officers were investigating a felony crime, and the suspect refused to comply with police orders to exit the structure, Rios added.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team has been dispatched to the scene.

Roads were closed in the area as a precaution, and police asked that people stay out of the area until the incident is resolved.
