San Luis Obispo police are looking for a suspect who tried to sexually assault a Cal Poly student on Monday night.

San Luis Obispo police are searching for a man they say attempted to sexually assault a woman coming out of her shower.

Police received a call at 11:30 p.m. Monday from an address in the 1200 block of Foothill Boulevard, where the woman, a 22-year-old Cal Poly student, said the suspect “tried to sexually assault her in her apartment just as she had stepped out of her shower.”

The woman was not injured, and police said the suspect, who was unknown to the woman, left before completing the assault. He is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man in his mid- to late-twenties, with a medium build and average height, “possibly a shaved head,” a white shirt, black leather jacket, black ski gloves, white Converse shoes and blue jeans with tan stitching.

Anyone with information about the suspect or incident is encouraged to call the San Luis Obispo Police Department at 805-781-7317 or the Crime Stoppers line at 805-549-7867.

“The Police Department would also like to remind the public to lock and secure the windows and doors to your homes and report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood,” according to a department statement.
