Coast Union volleyball opens vs. Santa Maria

The Coast Union volleyball season kicks off its 2016 season Thursday, Aug. 25, as the Lady Broncos host the Santa Maria Saints in a nonleague match at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. The junior varsity team plays the JV Saints at 5 p.m.

Varsity head coach Pam Kenyon, entering her 26th year of coaching volleyball at Coast Union, is recovering from cancer-related surgery July 1 and will be assisted by Dennis White and Jeff Smith.

The Lady Broncos have accumulated a 35-5 record in the Coast Valley League over the past four years. Coast won’t begin league play until well into September.
