Autumn doesn’t officially arrive on the Central Coast until Sept. 22, but for Little League players on the Giants and the Reds — and those kids who would like to learn play baseball — Fall Ball begins Sept. 11, the first Sunday after Labor Day.

Coach Matt Saunders is urging boys and girls interested in baseball to sign up for Fall Ball by emailing cambriabaseball@gmail.com. The cost for the fall season of baseball is $25, and Saunders said “all ages and skills are more than welcome.”

Fall Ball games are only played on Sundays, and Saunders emphasizes that it will be “all fun and skills practices with no stress.”

Among Saunders’ goals is to “really build up recruitment, and in particular build it up at the Coach-Pitch and T-Ball levels.” Kids who come to Fall Ball will be able to work on their skills in preparation for spring Little League play, or just try out different positions on the baseball diamond.

There will be no “mandatory practices,” just one game a week on Sundays, Saunders explained.

For kids who want to work on pitching, hitting or fielding, the Fall Ball experience is ideal, and the practices will be “very easy going,” Saunders said.

“Help me spread the word,” Saunders concluded. “Cambria needs new kids and more kids and parents badly.”
