Magnuson fires third no-hitter of season as Coast Union romps
The Coast Union softball squad strengthened its hold on first place in the Coast Valley League by beating Coastal Christian 10-0 in five innings Friday, May 6. Ellie Magnuson struck out 12 batters in tossing her third no-hitter of the season.
Ani Corbett belted a stand-up triple and was bunted home by Reagan Kniffen. Ashley Martinez doubled and drove in two runs, Maddie May doubled, and Dianna Cisneros drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Broncos (7-0 in the CVL).
The softball team played at Valley Christian Academy in Santa Maria on Tuesday, May 10, and clinched the CVL championship by beating the Lady Lions 8-4. The game was tied 4-4 in the seventh inning, but Coast scored four runs, sparked by a two-run single from Cisneros.
Ani Corbett and May each homered in the game, and Ellie Magnuson pitched a four-hitter for the win. Coast Union finishes the regular season against Shandon Friday May 13.
