Cambria Little League teams drop season openers
Anhase Martin belted a home run and pitched several innings for the Cambria Reds in a 15-3 season-opening loss Saturday to the Morro Bay Brewers at Lilia Kaiser Park in Morro Bay.
Other Reds players with hits included Zack Stephenson, Ethan Hoffman, Riley Volz, Michael Sison and Aidan Kasper. The Reds also lost to Los Osos, 12-9, on Tuesday. Nate Markham and Martin pitched well, and Ethan Hoffman played terrific defense, according to Coach Gary Stephenson. Hoffman made a diving stop on one line drive that led to a force at second.
Meanwhile, the Cambria Giants lost a close one to the Morro Bay Pirates on Saturday, falling 11-9.
Robert Saunders and Chase Hayden handled the pitching for the Giants, and Andrea Castillo went 2-for-2 with two RBI in her first game ever.
The Giants play mainly Wednesday games but will play on Saturday, March 26, in Los Osos.
