Pam Kenyon’s highly successful career as Coast Union’s venerable volleyball coach (and science teacher) stretches back 26 years; but since 2013, Kenyon has had to reduce her coaching and teaching assignments on several occasions while she battled cancer.
However, last month her physician’s report showed that Kenyon is “all clear,” she said in an email interview. She will have checkups four times a year and will be taking an oral chemo drug on a regular basis.
It’s not so much a matter of “controlling it,” she said, but more a matter of “checking to see if it is growing somewhere. My last check said there was something that could be cancerous on my abdominal wall, but scan results indicate it not growing.”
Since 2014, Kenyon’s varsity volleyball team is 37-1 in the Coast Valley League.
