2 major crashes block rush-hour traffic on SLO County highways
Two major crashes slowed traffic on two busy San Luis Obispo County highways on Friday afternoon.
A three-vehicle crash was reported near the intersection of the highway and Corbett Canyon Road around 3:42 p.m. on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
The page described the crash as a head-on collision involving two vehicles with both vehicles sustaining major front-end damage. A third vehicle was also involved and also sustained front-end damage, the page said.
The page described the crash as a major-injury incident.
As of 3:53 p.m., the southbound lane of the highway was blocked, the page said.
Tow trucks had been requested for the incident as of 4:08 p.m., the page showed.
Traffic was still slow in the area as of 4:14 p.m., according to the Caltrans QuickMap.
The Tribune reached out to the California Highway Patrol for more information on the crash but did not immediately receive a response.
Crash slows traffic on the Cuesta Grade in SLO County
Meanwhile, a two-vehicle crash slowed northbound traffic on the Cuesta Grade on Friday afternoon.
The crash was reported around 3:52 p.m. about halfway up the Grade, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
Around 4:04 p.m., both vehicles were in the No. 1 lane of Highway 101, the page said, and one person was out of their vehicle and picking up debris from the roadway.
By 4:11 p.m., the CHP page reported the roadway was clear, but Caltrans Traffic Cameras showed that traffic was still slow in the area.
