Motorcycle crash injures 1, backs up Highway 101 traffic near SLO
A motorcycle crash on Highway 101 snarled traffic south of San Luis Obispo on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 4:06 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcyclist south of Avila Beach Drive on the southbound side of Highway 101, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.
A reporting party said that a black Range Rover allegedly hit the motorcyclist before attempting to leave the scene of the crash, which initially blocked all three southbound lanes, according to the CHP page.
Some vehicles stopped to assist, and the No. 3 lane was reopened by around 4:17 p.m.
Medics were dispatched to the scene of the crash to treat moderate injuries suffered by the motorcyclist, according to emergency radio traffic.
A tow truck was dispatched to the scene of the crash at 4:18 p.m., according to the CHP page.
Traffic was still backed up as far north as the Higuera Street off-ramp as of 4:30 p.m.
