Traffic jam plugs up Highway 101 in SLO County. Here’s why

A small fire slowed traffic on Highway 101 near Arroyo Grande in San Luis Obispo County on Monday afternoon.

A small spot fire ignited in the center divider of Highway 101 near Laetitia Vineyard Drive at about 2:06 p.m., according to the Caltrans QuickMap.

Emergency responders closed the No. 1 lane by 2:22 p.m. and directed traffic into the No. 2 lane. Traffic was congested in the area, Caltrans said.

At 2:25 p.m., Cal Fire said they would only need the closure for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, Caltrans said.
